In Melsbroek, Belgium, the Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre (MLCC) organised an information session on the military transport of dangerous goods. This briefing formed part of a new MLCC service initiative, aimed at enhancing knowledge sharing and support in the fields of transport regulations and military mobility.

Approximately 50 personnel from the Belgian Armed Forces attended the event, representing a variety of logistics and operational functions with an interest in the transport of dangerous goods.

The session provided an overview of the principal regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods, with particular attention to ADR, ICAO and STANAG 4441, the interaction between different regulatory frameworks, and recent developments in Military Mobility. The briefing also addressed the practical implications of these developments for military transport operations.

Participants particularly appreciated the clear explanation of the regulatory framework, the insights into current developments, and the opportunity to discuss topics related to day-to-day operations. The evaluation showed that the information session largely met expectations and that most participants considered the topics relevant to their current or future duties.

The feedback also highlighted the diversity of training needs within the audience. In addition to an interest in regulatory and policy-related knowledge, participants expressed a desire for more practical training and hands-on exercises. This underlines the value of a balanced training programme that supports both policy-oriented and operational personnel.

With an average evaluation score of 3.93 out of 5, the event can be regarded as a successful and constructive initiative that contributed to a better understanding of both the regulatory framework and future developments concerning the military transport of dangerous goods.
